The man wears a paper on his back with the message ‘MAL is hungry for power’. MAL is the shortened name of Min Aung Hlaing, general who seized power in a coup on Feb 1st.

The man wears a paper on his back with the message “Zaw Mae Lone – 5 000000 MMK” (3000 euros). Zaw Mae Lone is one of the nicknames given of General Zaw Min Tun, the incumbent Deputy Minister of Information, concurrently serving as the Chief of the Tatmadaw True News Information Team, and head of the State Administration Council’s press team.

Mar 27 – Thumana Road, Thaketa, Yangon. “Today was so bad, seventy police and military personnel came to crush the protest in this street”. March 27th is Armed Forces Day in Myanmar, and while the junta organised a parade in the capital Nay Pyi Daw, more than 150 people were killed by authorities around the country on the bloodiest day since the coup on Feb 1st.

Mine Min Naung, law student, ethnic Ta’ang activist and frontline protester for a federal democracy, was shot in the back during a demonstration which started at 7 am and passed away from his injuries on his way to the hospital. Five people died on Armed Forces Day in Lashio, who has been under intense repression for a month.
