Program
MSF Original is reserved for new MSF projects and new applicants developing their 1st or 2nd full-length feature films, fiction only. 6 projects maximum are selected in 2020. MSF Original includes professional workshops combining individual consultancies on script-writing, producing and plenary sessions intended to provide insight into the international film market. The MSF Original’s objective is to support Myanmar emerging filmmakers and producers during the development process and to assist them in honing their professional skills.
At the end of the individual consultancies, the candidates present their projects during a pitching session in front of a jury composed of international film experts. In 2020, the jury is presided by the female director Dechen Roder (Buthan). Previously, the jury was presided by directors Michel Hazanavicius (France), then Midi Z (Taiwan), Phan Dang Di (Vietnam) and Claude Mouriéras (France). In 2020, three projects from MSF Original will be awarded. Please find the previous years’ laureates here.

Calendar
The 2020 MSF Original takes place online through Zoom from December 1 to 9.
The pitching competition in front of the jury will be held on December 7.
The Award Ceremony on December 9.

Awards
After deliberation the Jury will award 3 prizes for MSF Original:
MSF Script Development Award: 1.000 EUR for the continuity of the scriptwriting work. This grant will be given in 2 installments.
MSF Production Award: 2.000 EUR for the shooting of a short film related to the presented feature film project.
MSF Open Doors Award:  Invitation to a producer to participate in the 2021 edition of the Locarno Festival/Open Doors Lab from August 4 to 11 OR invitation to  a director to participate in the 2021 edition of the Open Doors Screenings by showing one of his/her short and taking part into the Open Doors Talent Immersion program from August 4 to 11.
